The Weight We Set Down -
And The Music I Wrote About It
There is a moment that happens to almost everyone I work with.
It usually happens a few weeks into our work together. They have spent their entire lives operating from a place of tension, urgency, and high-alert performance. They have built careers, families, and reputations on their ability to hold it all together.
And then, for the first time in maybe decades, their nervous system actually drops into a state of safety.
The hum in their chest quiets. The bracing in their shoulders releases. The constant, low-grade scanning for the next problem stops.
And you know what they almost always say?
"I had no idea how heavy it was until I put it down."
That is the thing about survival mode. When you are carrying the weight of it every single day, it just feels like gravity. It feels like normal. You do not realize you are wearing armor until you finally take it off and feel the air on your skin.
I know that feeling intimately.
Years ago, when I was climbing the corporate ladder and looking like I had everything completely under control, I was carrying a weight that was crushing me from the inside out. My nervous system was locked in a trauma response. I was surviving, not thriving. And I thought that was just the price of admission for success.
It took cancer, near-death experiences, and a complete dismantling of my life to force me to set that weight down.
And when I did, I had to figure out who I was without it.
That recalibration process—the grit, the pain, the unlearning, and the ultimate peace that comes from doing the deep work—is what I teach now. It is the foundation of The Peace Protocol. It is the work I do with high-level performers every day.
But recently, I realized that teaching it wasn't enough. I needed to express it differently.
So, I did something a little unhinged.
I wrote an album.
I poured my heart, my experiences, and my literal soul into writing the lyrics that tell the raw, unfiltered story of my journey. And then, because I am not a musician, I partnered with AI to bring those lyrics to life musically.
The project is called Ash and River, and the album is called The Weight We Set Down.
Before you judge me or assume I have completely lost my mind, I want you to know that these are not just random robot noises. This is my story. It is the story of what happens when you finally stop running. It is the story of rebuilding an identity from the ground up.
Whether you are a high-achiever running on fumes, someone who is actively healing their nervous system, or you just want to hear what happens when a trauma specialist decides to drop some tracks, I think you are going to feel this.
It is out now on Spotify, Amazon, and YouTube.
You can listen to it here:
I am sharing this with you today not just to promote a project, but because I want to ask you a question.
What is the weight you are carrying right now that you have convinced yourself is just part of who you are?
Is it the need to always be the strong one? Is it the belief that if you stop pushing, everything will fall apart? Is it the quiet, persistent anxiety that you are never quite doing enough?
Your nervous system learned to carry that weight for a reason. It kept you safe. It got you here.
But you do not have to carry it forever.
There is a version of you underneath all that armor. A version that can lead, succeed, and live from a place of grounded, regulated peace.
If you are ready to start setting the weight down, I am here. You can reply directly to this email, or you can book a time for us to talk by visiting thehighlevellife.com
Until then, I hope you find a few minutes today to listen to the music. And I hope it reminds you that you are not alone in the heavy lifting.
Warmly,
Jen

The Peace Protocol - From Chaos to Calm
Your nervous system runs the show. You cannot operate at your highest and best if your nervous system is dysregulated. For too long, we’ve been sold a lie: That success demands the ultimate sacrifice of our wellbeing. That leadership must cost us our health, our peace, and sometimes even our integrity. That burnout is the price of ambition. I am here to dismantle that narrative—because it’s wrong. And because the future demands something more. True leadership isn’t built on output alone. It’s built on inner mastery: the ability to regulate under pressure, to lead with resilience, and to create from a place of true strength—not survival. Success fueled by burnout will always collapse. But success rooted in regulation, emotional mastery, and deep resilience? That’s the success that lasts. That’s the success that changes organizations, families, communities—and lives. At The High Level Life™, we don’t patch symptoms. We address the whole system: The body. The brain. The beliefs. The behaviors. We integrate science, strategy, and soul to build leaders who aren’t just high-performing—they’re whole. The future of leadership is integrated, not fragmented. It’s embodied, not performative. And it starts from within. If you’re ready to rise, not just in title but in strength, clarity, and resilience— You’re in the right place. Together, we’ll help you break free from the cycles that have kept you stuck. We offer what mainstream self-help hasn't given you because we believe that the greatest service that we can do for another is to help you to help yourself. This isn’t about short-term fixes. It’s about real, lasting change that transforms your life and helps generations to come. End the cycle of burnout and stress for good.
