Hey everyone, I wanted to share something that I personally use every day that has helped me regulate my own nervous system. It is my favorite tool.

Most people think stress shows up in their thoughts.
It doesn’t. It shows up in your heart first.

Last week, I filmed a short demonstration using the HeartMath monitor — the same device top performers, leaders, and first responders use to measure heart rate variability and train emotional regulation. I wanted to show you something most people never see:

Your heart responds to your inner world in real time.
And the shift is instant.

In the first clip, I breathed the way most people do all day. Quick. Shallow. Distracted. I thought about something that pulled my energy down. Nothing dramatic. Just a thought that didn’t help my system.

Within seconds, the data changed.

The HRV line on my screen became jagged and uneven.
My coherence dropped.
My heart and brain fell out of sync.
And there it was — a visual snapshot of what a dysregulated nervous system looks like.

You don’t feel it at first.
But the body always shows the truth.

Then I filmed the second clip.

Same device.
Same chair.
Same person.

But this time, I slowed my breath.
I pulled my inhale deeper into my ribs.
And I focused on one thing I was grateful for.

Sixty seconds later, my HRV shifted into a smooth, rhythmic pattern.
My coherence rose. My entire system reorganized into alignment.

This is the part that still amazes me, no matter how long I’ve worked in trauma, somatics, and high-performance psychology:

Your nervous system is not fixed.
It is trainable.

And coherence — that smooth, steady state where your heart and brain work together — is one of the most powerful tools you can build. When you’re coherent, you think clearer. You respond instead of react. Your emotional patterns change. Your stress hormones drop. Your performance rises. Your body stops burning energy it doesn’t need to burn.

This is why high achievers burn out:
They run their bodies in jagged HRV patterns for years.

This is why nervous system work matters:
You can bring yourself back into alignment on purpose.
